Teen Start-Up Code of Conduct

CODE OF CONDUCT

  1. Participants must obey all instructions from event organisers and/or support staff, such as (but not limited to) all reasonable instructions, directions and procedures relate to health and safety.
  2. Once signed in on the day of the event, participants must not depart from the event venue without the approval of the event organisers and/or support staff.
  3. Event organisers and staff will provide supervision for participants during the designated times and space of the event. Supervision at other times is the responsibility of the parent(s)/guardians.
  4. Participants are representing their school, family and Teen Start-Up. No discredit should be brought to any of the above.
  5. Any forms of disrespect, bullying and discrimination will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Bad behaviour will not be tolerated on any level.
  6. If participants have any problems or issues, they are to report them to the event organisers and/or support staff as soon as possible.
  7. There is to be:
    1. Respect for the venue and all of its property;
    2. No interference with other participant’s property;
    3. No use of venue equipment (computers and laptops etc.) without permission and assistance from event organisers and support staff;
    4. No use of technology included in the Technology Showcase without permission and assistance from event organisers and support staff.
  1. Parent(s)/guardian(s) will be liable for any damage or loss caused to the event organiser’s property and the venue premises resulting from the Participant’s misconduct.
  2. Participants agree to wear enclosed footwear at all times and dress appropriately for a full day event (involving both indoor and outdoor activities).
  3. Participants are required to take care of their possessions whilst at the event. Lighthouse Business Innovation Centre Limited (Lighthouse) will not be held liable for any loss or damage to participants’ possessions.
  4. Participants must not consume alcohol, use illegal substances, or smoke cigarettes whilst participating in the event in any capacity.
  5. Event organisers reserve the right to deny event access to any participants who are destructive, disruptive or who have not made full payment.

Breaches of any Code of Conduct rules may lead to immediate expulsion from the event. Should expulsion occur the participant’s parent(s)/guardian will be contacted and appropriate travel arrangements made. Any and all additional expenses as a result of this will be the responsibility of the participant’s parent(s)/guardian.

Lighthouse reserves the right to make changes to the event (timings, delivery material etc.) before, during or after the time of the event.

CONSENT TO APPLY FIRST AID

In the event of an emergency, injury or illness, you give permission for the event organisers from Lighthouse to obtain on behalf and at your expense, any medical assistance, treatment and transportation as deemed necessary.

REGISTRATION FEES AND TRANSPORTATION

Provisions of services and support staff need to be booked well in advance of the event and as such, once the registration fee has been paid, this amount will not be refunded.

For Duty of Care purposes, participants must be signed in and out at the start and end of each event day by their parent(s)/guardian so as to ensure that all participants are accounted for throughout the day and leave the premises safely.

All transportation to and from the venue will need to be arranged by the participants or their parent(s)/guardians. Please ensure you arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of the event each day to allow time for signing in. A Parent Information Pack will be sent for each participant closer to the event date.

BRING YOUR OWN DEVICE (BYOD) POLICY

The following BYOD policy applies, but is not limited to, all devices and accompanying media brought for use at Teen Start-Up:

  1. Participants must use devices as directed by event organisers and support staff.
  2. Participants must power off and put away personal devices if directed to do so by event organisers and support staff.
  3. Participants are not permitted to access websites that are not regarded as Teen Start-Up resources.

Participants are required to take care of their equipment whilst at the event. Lighthouse Business Innovation Centre Limited (Lighthouse) will not be held liable for any loss or damage to participants’ possessions.

COLLECTION AND USE OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

The information provided as part of the registration process (personal, contact, financial etc.) will only be used for the purpose of organising Teen Start-Up and ensuring safe participation in the event. Personal information will not be shared or disclosed to a third party.

PHOTOGRAPHY

Event organisers and supporting staff may take photographs and footage of participants working and presenting over the course of the event for marketing purposes. Participants will not be identified by name. If you do/do not allow for your child to be photographed/filmed, please indicate your preference when completing the registration form. Participants who do not have parent(s)/guardians permission will be de-identified in any photographs or film.
